Dolly Wink: Otona lash series

Hey everyone! Long time no... review

I'm so sorry for my lack of diligence T___T I guess I could just never bring myself to write about anything. I have been updating my personal blog a lot more often though -- so if you want to read my useless nonsense, please visit: http://xxshinrai.blogspot.com

Life's been very busy lately; I've started two new jobs since November/December last year, catching up with a lot of old friends, celebrating the new year (HAPPY 2012 EVERYONE!) and finally.. I'M MOVING HOUSE! The place is complete chaos and I don't know when I will have access to internet at my new residence, hence the urge to bust out this review!!

Anyway, please expect a blog makeover and many more reviews for 2012!

Dolly Wink is a brand presented by KOJI and produced by Japanese gyaru model, Masuwaka Tsubasa ( 益若 つばさ). The brand originally housed a series of 8 varieties of false eyelashes as well as eyeliners, eyelash fix and eyelash case. Due to the huge success of these products in both the Japanese and international market, the brand soon expanded into the direction of eyeshadow palettes, cream eyeshadow and mascaras.

Now, Tsu-chan has graced her adoring fans with a whole new line of false eyelashes, with the addition of eyebrow pencils, eyebrow mascaras, eyebrow powder palletes, new eyelash fix and eyelash case! Her new line of products have the concept of a more "大人(オトナ)" feel, while still maintaining the "かわいい" feel~

Today, I will be reviewing two of the new lower false eyelashes; 13 ベイビーガールー (Baby Girl) & 14 ナチュラルキュート (Natural Cute)!

13 ベイビーガールー Baby Girl

This new addition to the Dolly Wink lower lash collection stays true to the older series of bottom lashes which were very natural and wearable. The lashes have a gradient length, extending further as you move from the inner to the outer portion of the lash band. Volume is concentrated towards the middle of the lash band, giving more definition to the iris when worn. The style also utilises a wispy lashed look, giving a cute, natural feel.

When worn with natural upper lashes

Special care needs to be taken with the lashes due to the arrangement of the individual hairs. I accidentally got a little bit of the eyelash fix on the section second from the outer portion of the lash band. When I tried to take it off, I stuck the fine hairs together -- which is why it appears as a thin, sharp hair.

When worn with more dramatic upper lashes

Depending on where you apply the glue and apply the lashes under your lash line, your bottom lashes will either appear as shown in the first image (with natural lashes; Diamond Lash Fairy Eye), or as shown in the second image (with more dramatic upper lashes; Dolly Wink 1. Dolly Sweet), where they stick up a bit.

I personally like the lower lashes with both natural and more dramatic lashes (although I haven't tried them with with super voluminous upper lashes yet). However, if you're going for that "Otona" look, stick to the natural upper lashes (just as Tsu-chan styles them).

I really like these lower lashes~ it's a nice step away from my more dramatic Diamond Lash ones :) I haven't previously tried the first series of DW lower lashes, but I think I'd want to now !! I really love how natural they are.. but still a bit dressy~ The only thing is, I don't think these lashes suit me the best. Which is why I'm not giving them full 5/5.

14 ナチュラルキュート Natural Cute

These lashes mirror some of the earlier Dolly Wink lower lashes, however, there is the addition of a more voluminous design on the outer lash band. The lashes are reminiscent of Diamond Lash's ラブリー eye (Lovely eye), ecept that they aren't as curled and the shape and intervals are quite different.

I am really fond of these bottom lashes!! They're so natural and I love the accent towards the outer portion of the lash band :D I think they look better on my eyes than the 13 Baby Girl ones. I was a fan of the Diamon Lash Lovely Eye bottom lash, but these ones are a lot nicer because the quality is better and I think I prefer the lashes to be more straight, rather than curled. They go well with both the Diamond Lash and Dolly Wink upper lashes, so I would be happy to wear them with either.

Blogger's note: Hope you enjoyed these reviewed items and hope I provided enough detail~ Would like to apologise for my horrible skin and freckly face. They're not very attractive -_- hahah !

O'slee White++ Rosehip Mask

Hi ^__^

I've been a bit MIA with my review posts because I've been so busy with university and job interviews! Really haven't had the time to trial anything and write a review. But I decided to write this one because I tried a new mask a few days ago.

I got this O'slee WHITE++ Rosehip Mask as a freebie gift from Sasa.com and didn't really think to use it until now.

It boasts 'instant whitening + elimnating imperfections" with "30% pure rosehip essence".

What is rosehip essence?
When you research 'rosehip essence', not much really comes up -- however there is an abundance of websites talking about rose hip seed oil. This oil is extracted from (yes, you guessed it)  the seeds of a rose bush specifically located in Chile and Argentina. Rose hip seed oil has been used in a wide variety of skin care to deal with an array of skin ailments such as dermatitis, acne, eczema, sun burn, wrinkles etc.

Wikipedia states its benefits..
Rosehip Seed Oil(Rosa Affinis Rubiginosa) contains Vitamin A, which helps to delay the effects of skin aging, assists with cell regeneration, and promotes collagen and elastin levels to increase. This results in firmer, smoother, and more youthful skin with greater elasticity. Rosehip seed oil also contains a high amount of essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, which further promotes healthy skin. In particular, it is rich in linoleic and linolenic acids, which are important skin nutrients.

Along with rose hip essence, the O'slee Rosehip Mask also contains licorice extract (known to help treat eczema according to some studies and also used in alternative medicine).

With innovative Hi-Active Bond in pure rosehip essence, White++ Mask whitens, eliminates all freckles and blemishes at ultra speed. Combined with scientific proofed whitening ingredient, Licorice extract, White++ Mask offers you a more crystalline, porcelain-like compleion than ever.

SAVVY by DB: Liquid Eyeliner

Today I will be reviewing SAVVY by DB's Liquid Eyeliner in Plum.

I wouldn't say I use a lot of coloured eye liners; whether they're pencil, liquid or cream liners. Apart from this plum liquid liner, I own an emerald pencil liner by Mode Cosmetics haha. I don't use it that often but I recently used it for my Hatsune Miku cosplay ^3^ (green brows ftw!)

I got this eyeliner at Priceline for under $5 (if I recall correctly). Definitely not going to leave a hole in your pocket and it also came in other colours but I don't really remember them (according to a review online, someone bought them in olive and blueberry as well). I also read somewhere that production of these products now takes place in China as opposed to Germany. I suppose that's why their cosmetics are so affordable - but I don't think the quality is that great.

The liquid liner comes packaged in a little eyeliner bottle and the applicator is attached to the top. As you can see in this photo, when you first take the applicator out of the bottle, it is rich with product. I don't like this (I don't think anyone would because you can't splosh that only your eyes, now can you?), so I simply wipe off the access on the lip of the bottle. Don't really think this helps all that much though because the applicator is not really 'infused' with the product. This means that when you're lining your eye, the product runs out real quick. Due to this, I've had to dip the applicator in serveral times and leave a little more product on the applicator so that the eyeliner isn't so translucent. However this makes for uneven, clumped up application. It just looks ugly.

This is how the eyeliner looks when I've used it to line my upper lid. In the light, it looks almost true to the colour of the bottle - perhaps just darker and with a metallic sheen. However, when I wore it out one time, my friend told me it looked like brown eyeliner. This is pretty disappointing because I was hoping this eyeliner would be a vibrant pop of colour. I was especially drawn to it because it was plum and I love plums & purples.

You may or may not be able to tell how uneven the application is as well. The formula is pretty poor in my opinion because unless you slosh a whole lot on (with product concentrated on the applicator), you aren't going to get a clear, solid line. The applicator probably doesn't do us any favours either because the point leaves a bare line (exposing the skin) as you drag it. Leaving a sort of outline outside the bare part..

In this photo, I've actually gone back and done a second coat of the eyeliner. The colour is a little more bold and the colour is there but notice that the line is not a smooth or defined line? As I lightly pat my eyelid and feel my lash line at this very moment, I can actually FEEL the eyeliner. The liner has dried to form this bumpy, unappealing piece of gunk on my eye. Not pretty at all. I'm also very aware that it's there when I blink. Perhaps it's just me but I'm wearing it only on my left eye and something definitely feels weird.

I drew some lines on my hand. The applicator doesn't really allow for a sleek, thin line - especially since you have to have quite a lot of the product on the applicator in the first place. It also takes some time to dry (annoying when you have smaller double lids or even monolids because it will just smudge everywhere when you open your eyes and you'll look like a noob lol)

Here's a close up of the scribble I drew on my hand. There's a noticeable metallic quality to it but not really the type of colour that I like.

This is the felt tip (at least I think it is felt tip) applicator. It's relatively hard and rigid, which I suppose is meant to aid with precise lining. I personally just don't like it. It's very harsh on my eyelid and I prefer a more gentle applicator - like a brush or a soft felt tip. I think I will stick to my Dolly Wink liquid liner because I absolutely love its felt tip applicator. Just hope they will make coloured liners in the future~

Another thing to note is that the liner is smudge proof, and relatively water resistant.

Rating: 4/10
I'll give it brownie points for being smudge proof and water resistant, as well as points for being really cheap and affordable. However, the applicator is a miss for me and so is the product itself. You get what you pay for I guess.

페리페라~ 마이 컬러 아이즈: peripera eyeshadows

Hello all~

A BIG FAT SORRY IS IN ORDER! I give you permission to pinch me T_T;; I wanted to be able to write more reviews on a regular basis once I moved servers, but I turned out to be a lazy reviewer. I'm really sorry and hope I haven't lost potential readers due to my lack of updates.

Anyway, I've decided to review my peripera eyeshadows today as I recently used my pinkpink one recently for a 'spring inspired' look. It was a bit of a fail, but if you're bored or interested: http://xxshinrai.blogspot.com/2011/09/inspired-by-spring.html

Hair care: TRESemmé

I'm back with my first hair care review for TRESemmé!

(Apologies again for the dodgey photos -_-;;)
I've been using this shampoo and conditioner since April of this year and there's still heaps left in the bottles. It's always good to buy in bulk, especially when the shampoo/conditioner is on sale XD (bought these from Priceline). At the time, they were both less than $10 AUD ~ naisu!
This is TRESemmé's ANTI-BREAKAGE range for 'extra dry, brittle hair', which is designed to strengthen the hair to reduce breakage. It contains vitamin B12 and keratin ('pumps up breakage-prone hair to support weak strands of hair').
A strengthening routine for your hair, this shampoo cleanses and fortifies to prevent breakage and split ends to keep hair manageable and strong.

Noir Blanc: compact eyeshadow in 'S105 Winter Sea'

Herro~

I'm back with my first makeup/eyeshadow review! I recently received a HUGE amount of unloved goodies from my sister-in-law for my birthday :D Lots of makeup and even skin care~ there's so much to go through, but I'll eventually get through most of them I think *fingers crossed*

I recently tried one of the Noir Blanc compact eyeshadow called S105 Winter Sea (picture in the middle in the photo above). I've never heard of this brand before, but the packaging is so simple and pretty~ It's a black case and a lacy design bordering the bottom and a chandelier hanging from the top of the pallete and sitting in the middle. Very cute~

Follow-up review: wholesale7.net shoes

Hi lovely readers~

I'm here with a follow-up review on one of the styles of shoes I purchased from wholesale7.net and previously reviewed here.

Unfortunately, this follow-up review is on a more negative note. I'd firstly like to apologise as I probably should have worn all the shoes a couple of times before making a judgement. As a result of not properly trialing the product, I believe I have given a mis-representation of one of the products.

Wholesale shopping & shoes review: 28fancywholesale.com / Lovely E-Gallery

I believe I've been a customer to this facebook / online store for quite a long time now. The first time I can recount making an enquiry was back in June 2010 when I asked about the geo nudy contact lens they were selling ($15 AUD a pair). I've made a lot of online purchases from facebook stores before and I've had my fair share of good and bad experiences. Luckily enough, most of the bad experiences have resulted in the facebook business compensating me. As a regular online shop-a-holic, that's equates to a big gold star for customer service!!

My first official order from Lovely E-Gallery (that I can find records of via Facebook) was in April 2011. They accept payment via bank transfer and orders take around 2-3 weeks to process before they are shipped out to your shipping address. The reason for this is because they are (for lack of a better term) the middle man. They take preorder orders from their customers and source their listed items from different suppliers. Quite a lot of facebook stores are run this way because it prevents overstocking of particular items which may not prove to be sell-out hits. If you're not a patient shopper, I really wouldn't recommend ordering from facebook stores which run predominantly on the basis of preorder items. Look out for stores with READY STOCK, however, as they do have the items in stock and can ship them out to you straight away.

My impression on the quality of the items I've received from various facebook stores varies, however, you really can't expect too much for what you're paying. Keep in mind that all these item listings feature photos of the products that they are replicating, not the replica items themselves. Therefore, you can definitely expect a number of imperfections when you receive your items. I know I'm not giving much credit to facebook/wholesale shopping -- but it is my absolute honest opinion. I personally find the small imperfections tolerable. It really comes down to weighing up whether the quality is sufficient for the amount of money you are paying and at the end of the day, even if the item itself is crazy cheap, shipping costs should always be considered.

wholesale7.net Shoes Haul

Hello lovelies~

My first haul post!!! Haul plus review ;D I recently purchased 3 pairs of shoes from wholesale7.net and wanted to share my experience with the company. I first came across them on facebook and read a little about the business they've been running. In a nutshell: wholesale7 is a wholesale manufacturing company based in China which specialises in Japanese & Korean fashion replicas at an affordable price.

After 5 years development, and professional clothes wholesale experience, we are always sticking on Honestly, Quality, and Good Service, and dedicate to offer the better online clothes wholesale and drop ship service to all over the world.

The business sounded promising, so I decided to have a browse of their website. The website is easy to navigate and has item categories on the left hand column (including the number of items in each category). There is an abundance of styles available which suit a variety of fashionistas :) I still haven't made the time to look through everything listed!! Any bet you can spend at least 2 hours having a rough browse through all the items which catch your eye? Hehehe!

Prisila wigs

Hihi everyone!

I would firstly like to apologise for not writing any reviews lately. I have been so inconsistent and I really was hoping to have a huge collection of reviews by now. Anyway, I have not taken the time to take proper photos of my wigs -_-" But I still want to share some photos of me wearing them !!

This is my first time wearing Prisila wigs! I remember when I was in Japan, I walked past a wig store and was in complete awe because they were so beautiful and the quality seemed amazing. I was far too shy to go into the store and have a closer look though. Fast forward ~~~ I got my first wig from eBay (from China)! It really opened a new world to me and I realised just how fun wigs can really be! You can get styles which are outrageous and completely different from your own hairstyle and be a total fashion chameleon!
